Goal Gauntlet

The classic competitive challenge. Put money on the line, compete on fitness metrics, and top performers take home the prize pool.

How It Works​

  1. Organizer creates a gauntlet with entry fee, duration, and metric (steps, distance, or calories)
  2. Participants join by paying the entry fee
  3. Challenge runs for the set duration (days or weeks)
  4. Activity syncs automatically from your health app
  5. Winners get paid based on final leaderboard rankings

Creating a Goal Gauntlet​

Basic Setup​

  1. Tap + on the home screen
  2. Select Goal Gauntlet
  3. Configure your challenge:

Payout Structure​

Choose how prizes are distributed:

Winner Takes All

  • 1st place gets 100% of prize pool
  • Best for small groups, high stakes

Top 3 Split

  • 1st: 50% | 2nd: 30% | 3rd: 20%
  • Balanced competition

Top 10% Share

  • Everyone in top 10% splits equally
  • Encourages participation in larger groups

Custom Split

  • Define your own percentages
  • Good for specific group needs

Advanced Options​

  • Start Date - Schedule for future or start immediately
  • Late Join - Allow joining after start (optional)
  • Daily Minimum - Require minimum daily activity to qualify
  • Verification - Require photo/video proof (coming soon)

Joining a Goal Gauntlet​

With Invite Code​

  1. Tap + → Join with Code
  2. Enter the code from your organizer
  3. Review challenge details
  4. Pay entry fee
  5. You're in!

From a Direct Invite​

Organizers and participants can invite you directly:

  1. You'll receive a notification when someone invites you
  2. Tap the notification or find the invite in the gauntlet details
  3. Review the challenge and tap Join

Browse Public Gauntlets​

  1. Tap Explore on home screen
  2. Filter by metric, duration, entry fee
  3. Tap a gauntlet to see details
  4. Tap Join and pay entry fee

Inviting Competitors​

Once you've joined a gauntlet, you can invite others:

  1. Open the gauntlet → tap Invite (or the share icon)
  2. Share invite code - Copy or share the 6-character code
  3. Invite past competitors - See people from your previous gauntlets
  4. Invite from "My Competitors" - People you've competed against before

You can track pending invites and see who has joined from your invitations.

During the Challenge​

Tracking Your Progress​

  • Your activity syncs automatically every few hours
  • Pull down on home screen to sync immediately
  • View your stats: today, this week, total

Leaderboard​

  • See real-time rankings
  • Your position updates as participants sync
  • View detailed stats for each participant

Chat​

  • Message other participants
  • Share encouragement and trash talk
  • React to messages with emojis

Winning​

How Rankings Work​

Rankings are based on total metric over the challenge duration:

  • Steps: Total step count
  • Distance: Total miles/kilometers
  • Calories: Total active calories burned

Ties are broken by who reached the total first.

Prize Distribution​

When the challenge ends:

  1. Final sync window (1 hour for late data)
  2. Leaderboard locks
  3. Prizes calculated based on payout structure
  4. Winners notified
  5. Payouts sent within 3-5 business days

Receiving Your Payout​

  1. Set up payout method in Settings → Payments
  2. Verify your identity (required by regulations)
  3. Receive funds via bank transfer or debit card

Leaving a Gauntlet​

Before It Starts​

You can leave and get a refund anytime before the challenge begins:

  1. Open the gauntlet → tap the menu (⋮) → Leave Gauntlet
  2. Choose your refund method:
    • Refund to card - Money back to your original payment method (3-5 business days)
    • Platform credit - Instant credit to your wallet
  3. Confirm

After It Starts​

Once the challenge begins, you cannot leave or get a refund. This ensures fairness for all participants.

Organizer Cancellation​

If the organizer cancels the gauntlet, all participants receive an automatic full refund.

Q: What if I can't sync my steps? A: See Health Data Troubleshooting. All data must come from your connected health app.

Q: Can I manually add steps? A: No. To ensure fair competition, only automatic health data counts.

Q: What if I need to withdraw? A: You can leave before the challenge starts for a full refund (to your card or as platform credit). After the challenge starts, withdrawals are not available.

Q: What fees does Goal Gauntlet charge? A: A 10% platform fee is applied to the prize pool. Pro subscribers pay 7%. See Payments FAQ for details.

Q: What if there's a tie? A: The participant who reached the tied total first wins.

Q: How do I know payouts are fair? A: Prize calculations are automatic and transparent. You can see the math in the challenge details.
